The coordinated presentation of the assembled treasures of contemporary Hungarian music – this has been the main aim of Budapest Music Center (BMC) since it was founded in 1996. The company takes an active role in shaping the space occupied by Hungarian music in the world – with the aid of marketable products and services suitable for the new millennium. BMC is made up of three units. The Hungarian Music Information Center and Library is available to visitors, with a music collection of over 100 thousand items, and public, free internet databases. BMC Records now boasts nearly 200 classical, contemporary and jazz music CDs, and in recent years its releases have won many prestigious prizes, both Hungarian and international. The third unit is concert- and events organization, whose portfolio of 250 events ranges from classical concerts and international music festivals to private functions, arena concerts, or large-scale open-air events.
